Medford Dishwasher Repair
Washing dishes is not the most enjoyable thing to do with your time. That’s why most people invest in dishwashers. This is, unfortunately, one of those chores that most of us would rather not have to do. Your kids don’t really want to wash them either. Having a dishwasher is a tremendous time-saving appliance. Whether your dishwasher is new or you have always relied on a dishwasher, it needs to keep working for you.
The average lifespan of any dishwasher depends on make, model, and year of manufacture. A reasonable rule of thumb is that an average life of a dishwasher is about 9-10 years. However, somewhere around 7 years, many dishwashers begin to have problems and need serviced and repaired.
Usually a dishwasher isn’t operating optimally and just ups and quits. It will slowly deteriorate in its ability to clean and eventually have a more major problem. Whenever you have trouble with your washer, you can count on Appliance Repair Medford to make the needed repairs. With a team of qualified technicians, we’re able to effectively address your service needs regardless of the manufacturer brand.
Broken Dishwasher Repairs:
Your Inlet valve controls the flow of water into the dishwasher.
Your wash arm carries water into dish racks for wash and rinse cycles.
The drain pump carries old water from the dishwasher to the drain.
Your circulation pump pushes water out of the spray arms and onto the dishes.
“My dishwasher is making a loud growling sound.”
The part of the pump that creates the water pressure which spins the spray arm is called the impeller. is the part of the pump that generates the water pressure necessary to make the spray arms spin. The impeller can be damaged if a small piece of food, like a seed, or a shard of glass gets lodged in the pump. Water can then leak into the motor and onto the floor. So, if you hear a loud growling sound, call us before you spring a leak.
Whether your complaints are cleaning, drying, or draining, we can handle everything from water leaks, to broken dish racks, to an entire control panel replacement.
Dishwasher Brands
Dishwashers come in all shapes and sizes. We’re happy to work on any dishwasher you call us on. Paying a higher price for your dishwasher, doesn’t directly affect it’s reliability or repair-free status. Which of these brands is your dishwasher?Whirlpool
An American manufacturer of home appliances, headquartered in Benton Charter Township, Michigan, United States. Whirlpool has been in business a long time, since 1911 and is well-trusted brand. In addition to their own dishwashers, they also make KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag, Ikea, and Amma. Our repair guys are overall happiest working on a Whirlpool dishwasher. Their middle line, although not trouble free, are still one of the most reliable and easiest (so least costly) to repair. Their inner-workings are well-build and parts are easy to swap out.
Viking
Most of their dishwashers are made in their factory in Turkey. Viking is a luxury brand known for allowing customization by the customer.Thermador
Thermador & and Gaggenau are both subsidiaries of BSH, Bosch and Siemens Home Appliance Group, based in Munich, Germany. Bosch is the 3rd largest appliance manufacturer in the world. The high-performance German-engineered appliances sold by Bosch began to be available in the United States around 1991. Due to their quieter and affordable features, Bosch started a dishwasher trend in the US.
Thermador was started in 1916 making built-in heaters. In 1998 Bosch bought Thermador and for 2 decades gave the Thermador dishwashers away in promotional Thermador sets.
In 2018, Thermador started selling a line of dishwasher that was distinct in design from Bosch. The quality of the racks, tines, etc. are markedly different.
Both are made in the largest appliance factory in the world located in North Carolina.
In a national survey of appliance repairmen, Bosch dishwashers had the least amount of repairs needed.
Samsung
Samsung purchased Dacor in 2016, however Dacor continues California operations and many of their products are still manufactured in the USA.
Mielea
European brand making higher-end dishwashers, with headquarters is in Gutersloh, Germany. Although they don’t come cheap, they do maintain a lot of reliability.
Maytag
Currently owned by Whirlpool. Engineered a double drawer dishwasher which today is manufactured in Findlay Ohio at the Whirlpool Plant. Maytag also used to manufacture the top load laundry for Crosley until Maytag’s merger with Whirlpool in 2006. See Whirlpool

LG dishwashers are mostly sold in big box stores
KitchenAid
Owned by Whirlpool. In 1919 The Hobart Manufacturing Company produced KitchenAid stand mixers which have changed little in design since the original attachments from the model “K” onwards are compatible with the modern machines. Dishwashers were the second product line to be introduced, in 1949, after purchase of the Garis-Cochran Manufacturing Company. The first KitchenAid dishwasher was based on Josephine Garis Cochran’s original design introduced to the public at the Chicago Fair in 1893. See Whirlpool
Kenmore
Kenmore, which is sold exclusively at Sears, has three lines: Kenmore, Kenmore Elite, and Kenmore Pro. Kenmore dishwashers are produced by several different manufacturers through the years: Whirlpool, GE, LG, Frigidaire, etc. The actual manufacturer makes a difference how many repairs you may need on your dishwasher.
JennAir
Owned by Whirlpool. The original Jenn-Air Products Company was founded by Louis J. Jenn in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1947, later becoming simply Jenn-Air. Initially, they made industrial fans. In 1961, Jenn-Air put their fan in a cook-top range which led to the invention of the first self-ventilated downdraft range. The Jenn-Air brand was bought by Maytag Corporation in 1982 which was eventually purchased by Whirlpool in 2006. In 2018, Whirlpool announced that the hyphen would be removed from JennAir’s name. See Whirlpool.
Ikea
Made by Whirlpool. See WhirlpoolGE
This brand is sold at big-box stores, independent stores, and is owned by Haier.
Fridgidaire
Their middle line is a good option with a low price tag that will last a few years. This won’t be a dishwasher that will hang around for decades, but we can try our best to make repairs as needed.

When You Need Repairs
Whenever you have appliances that break-down, you’ll usually notice some signs beforehand. They don’t usually just work one day and then they don’t work the next. If you have set your dishwasher to wash and after it has completed its cycle the dishes are cloudy, this is a sign of a problem. You might notice an unusual sound that you’ve never heard before. This could also be a sign of a problem with your dishwasher. Your problem is not going to miraculously disappear. It will require the services of a qualified repair technician. If you wait too long to have the problem addressed then you may no longer be able to rely on repairs to fix the problem. You may eventually have to purchase an entirely new dishwasher.
Dishwashers have the shortest average life expectancy of any of your home appliances. Averaging about 9 years, even the best dishwashers are a hassle and costly to replace.
